Transport and thermodynamics are the pillars of chemical engineering that deal with the transfer and conversion of mass, energy, and momentum in various processes and systems. Transport phenomena involve the understanding of the movement of heat, fluids, and particles, which is essential for designing new devices and systems (e.g., batteries, heat exchangers, separation units, and reactors) in the industry. Thermodynamics, on the other hand, focuses on the study of energy and chemical transformations in various chemical and physical systems. It involves analyzing the behavior of materials, energy changes, and equilibrium that occur during chemical reactions and phase transitions.
