Chemical and biomolecular engineering (CBE) occupies a unique position at the interface between molecular science and engineering.


CBE combines engineering principles with basic knowledge of chemistry, biology, and physics to solve critical challenges for the sustainable growth of human society, including the development

of green chemical processes, new energy systems, environmental technologies, biomedicines, and advanced materials. CBE provides highly interdisciplinary research opportunities in

collaboration with natural science and fellow engineering disciplines like materials engineering, computer science, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering. CBE graduates have scientific

knowledge over multiple length scales (from molecules to industrial plants), ability to bring ideas out of the lab into the world, and leadership/communication skills to drive technical innovation in

collaboration with fellow researchers.


CBE graduates are currently serving not only for refinery and petrochemical industries, but also for electronics, battery, healthcare, and pharmaceutical industries. Among various engineering

sectors, CBE has produced the largest number of CEOs in domestic and global leading businesses.
