이재형 교수, 세계적 강연 프로그램(Roger Sargent Lecture) 초청강연

이재형 교수가 공정시스템분야에 세계적인 강연 프로그램인 The Professor Roger Sargent Lecture에 초청을 받아 강연을 가진다.

올해 23번째를 맞는 The Professor Roger W.H. Sargent Lecture는 로져 사젼트(Roger Sargent) 교수의 공정 시스템 분야에 대한 독보적인 업적을 기리기 위하여 1994년도부터 시작된 세계적인 강연프로그램으로 Minnesota대학의 Aris교수, Lund대학의 Astrom교수, MIT의 George Stephanopoulos 교수, ETH의 Manfred Morari 교수 등 지금까지 해당 분야에서 뛰어난 성과를 보인 저명학자들이 연사로 서왔고 이교수가 아시아인으로는 처음로 연사로 초청되었다.

이 교수는 산업 공정 분야에서 향상되고 강건한 모델 제어를 구현할 수 있는 새로운 패러다임을 개발한 업적을 인정받아 미국화학공학회(AIChE)에서 주는 Computing in Chemical Engineering Award등 많은 상을 수상했으며, 현재 BK21 다중스케일 생명화학공학사업단 단장 및 사우디 아람코-카이스트 CO2 공동연구 센터장을 역임하고 있다. 또한 1994년 미국 NFS 재단에서 수여하는 ‘젊은 연구자상(Young Investigator Award)을 수상한바 있으며, 미국화학공학회(AIChE), 국제전기전자기술자협회(IEEE), 국제자동제어연합(IFAC) 학회 펠로우, 한국과학기술한림원과 한국 공학한림원 정회원으로 활동 중이다.

기념강연은 “Mathematical Programming and Dynamic Programming: How they have been used in control and can be combined for further use in planning, scheduling and control of multi-scale stochastic systems” 라는 제목으로 오는 12월 1일 런던의 임페리얼 컬리지에서 진행될 예정이다.
