The Department of Chemicaland Biomolecular Engineering at KAIST invites applications for tenure-trackfaculty positions at all levels. Applicants are welcome in all areas ofchemical and biomolecular engineering, but preferences will be given to thoseapplicants with backgrounds and research experiences in energy, catalysis, polymer, and biotechnology. We have multiplepositions available and will accept the applications until September 15, 2018for the first round of review. The review of the applications will begin immediatelyupon receipt with the aim of extending on-site interview offers by November 1,2018. However, we will receive the applications continuously thereafter and untilthese positions are filled, they will be open.

 

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in ChemicalEngineering or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Applicantsmust demonstrate strong research potential and commitment to teachingundergraduate and graduate students. Candidates with established track records in research and teaching willbe considered for a tenured position. Foreign candidates and female candidatesare encouraged to apply.

 

KAIST offers a competitivesalary and a start-up research fund. In addition, all faculty members have jointappointments with KAIST Institutes, with expanded opportunities for interdisciplinary researchand funding. KAIST attracts nation-wide top students pursuing B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. Currently, around 400 undergraduate and 380 graduate students are enrolled in the Chemical& Biomolecular Engineering department. The normal teaching load is one course per semester.

 

KAIST provides facultyhousing for the first five years, free of charge for the first two years and for some minimal charge after that. KAIST is committed to increasing the number of femaleand non-Korean faculty members. Non-Korean faculty members are not required tolearn Korean, althoughsome basic Korean language skill will be helpful in everyday life.
