Prof. Shin-Hyun Kim receives the 2019 Young Scientist Award

Prof. Shin-Hyun Kim from the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering was honored to be the laureate of the 2019 Young Scientist Award, December 12, 2019.

The Young Scientist Award was inaugurated in 1997 by the Ministry of Science and ICT and The Korean Academy of Science and Technology to honor and cultivate young scientists and engineers under 40 who have made significant contributions and will play a pivotal role in national science and technology. The award is conferred from the president of Korea to four people at a domestic university or research institute every year.

Professor Kim was selected as a laureate in engineering field #3 which includes chemical engineering, foods, polymers, fibers, biological engineering, industrial chemistry, and others. His main contribution is to engineer soft matter in innovative and creative ways for various applications, including displays, molecular sensors, novel coloration materials, and anti-counterfeiting patches. Distinguished Professor Sang Yup Lee in the Department was the first laureate of the award in 1997.
